Pundit Levent Tüzemen suggested two alternative players Galatasaray could have signed for the 45 million euros spent on Rafael Leao. Tüzemen stated that for the same fee, the club could have bought Ismaila Sarr from Crystal Palace or Marcus Rashford from Manchester United.

Evaluating the Leao transfer, Tüzemen said, "Let's say congratulations, but he wasn't a player I would have preferred." The experienced commentator noted the Portuguese star hasn't shown an upward trajectory recently but hoped he could return to his best days at Galatasaray.

PRIORITIES LISTED

Levent Tüzemen shared his views on the club's transfer policy. Saying "I don't understand the board's transfer policy. Players should be bought for positions of need first," Tüzemen emphasized that Galatasaray's priorities should be a striker, a midfielder, and a left-sided central defender. He said players for these positions must be added to the UEFA list submitted on September 2.

Tüzemen warned that failure to do so could lead to major difficulties in the Champions League. Reminding that wingers Yunus Akgün, Leroy Sané, and Barış Alper Yılmaz are already at the club, the pundit wished Leao would intensify competition with his performances.

ZAHA COMPARISON

The experienced figure also referenced the Wilfried Zaha transfer. Tüzemen said, "Hopefully it won't be something like Zaha. Zaha also promised a lot but played matches like a flash in the pan," pointing to Leao's periods of inconsistency. He added, however, that if the Portuguese player shows the performance from his strong periods, he could achieve important things.

Galatasaray completed the Leao transfer at the request of manager Okan Buruk. Tüzemen showed respect for this choice, saying, "I heard Okan Buruk wanted him very much, so he must know something." The team's schedule for European and league competition is on our fixtures page.

The commentator reiterated that the board must focus on priority positions with the transfer window closing soon. Of the alternative names Tüzemen suggested, Ismaila Sarr plays for Crystal Palace while Marcus Rashford plays for Manchester United.
