The truth about Galatasaray defender Kaan Ayhan's interaction with new signing Rafael Leao has been clarified by footage from a different camera angle. Video that circulated on social media claiming Ayhan snubbed Leao after the 3-1 win over Göztepe was misleading. A fan-recorded video from another perspective clearly shows the experienced centre-back shaking hands with the Portuguese star.
Following Galatasaray's latest league victory, players gathered on the pitch to celebrate with each other and the fans. Summer signing Rafael Leao also came onto the field to greet his new teammates. A short, initial clip showed Leao extending his hand while Kaan Ayhan appeared to look away, seemingly ignoring the gesture. This moment drew criticism from some Galatasaray supporters and quickly became a trending topic online.
The complete picture emerged from a second, wider-angle video of the same moment, captured by a fan and highlighted in Sözcü's report. This footage clearly shows Kaan Ayhan turning towards Leao and engaging in a cordial handshake. It became apparent that the first viral clip was deceptive, showing only a fragment of the interaction. The incident serves as another reminder of the need to verify rapidly spreading social media narratives before drawing conclusions.
