Wage Request

On 24 August 2026, Galatasaray rejected Lucas Torreira’s request for a 4.3 million Euro wage increase. The club, which signed the 30-year-old in the summer of 2022 from Arsenal for 6 million Euro, chose to keep the contract running until 2028.

Club’s Decision

President Dursun Özbek and the board sent a message to Torreira’s agent: "We will make the decision." The management highlighted the 3.8 million Euro transfer fee and declined the player’s demand.

Management and Head Coach Statements

Head coach Okan Buruk stated that "Torreira is the backbone of the team and we need him this season." Buruk made it clear that he does not want the player to leave.

Future Plans

The board is evaluating the situations of Lemina and Torreira to strengthen the midfield. Interest from Saudi clubs in Lemina continues. If either leaves, Galatasaray plans to bring in Senegalese star Pape Matar Sarr from Tottenham.
