The Ministry of Youth and Sports has issued a statement clarifying the legal procedure concerning Galatasaray Sports Club. The Ministry published the explanation following news reports in some media outlets today.
In its written statement, the Ministry said, "The need to inform the public correctly has arisen in relation to the news appearing in some press outlets today." It stated that the process relates to the collection of the amateur sports contribution fee arising from the contract provisions signed between the Ministry and Galatasaray Sports Club.
The Ministry emphasized that "the process in question is a routine legal procedure carried out within the framework of legal obligations arising from the contract and the follow-up of public receivables." It added that the actions were performed without any discretion or special practice, in accordance with the relevant legislation and contract terms. The Ministry underlined that the process is being conducted independently of the club's sporting successes. This clarification comes as the club continues its strong sporting form. Galatasaray currently sits top of the Süper Lig with 13 points from 5 games, having won four of its last five matches.
League leaders Galatasaray will face 9th-placed Trabzonspor away on Friday, 19 September 2026.
